Introducing Resident Summaries: The Details That Build Connection

In senior living, great care is built on relationships, not just a checklist of clinical tasks.

When a caregiver knows personal details about a resident—that they spent 64 years happily married, light up talking about their great-grandkids, would rather skip anything spicy, and are always happy with a bowl of soup—the entire dynamic shifts. Care moves from a routine transaction to a meaningful connection. It builds trust, eases isolation, and helps residents feel truly at home.

Yet this kind of detail rarely reaches the floor when it matters most.

Today, we're excited to introduce Resident Summaries — a new feature in August Health Care Track, powered by August Intelligence, that brings each resident's story to the floor.

The Full Picture, at the Point of Care

Communities know a lot about their residents — their clinical history, their preferences, their life stories. It's captured during move-in and keeps growing as residents are reassessed and their needs change.

Typically, all of it gets compiled into a resident profile that lives in a binder, outdated the moment it's printed. While these profiles can help a new hire get up to speed or introduce a caregiver to a new resident, it's rarely within reach when caregivers need it most: while the resident is right in front of them.

Resident Summaries closes the gap, turning information the community already has into a concise digital profile caregivers can pull up anytime in Care Track, our mobile, point-of-care solution. This summary includes the clinical essentials, as well as the personal details that forge connections, including:

  • Clinical Summary: A quick reference for active diagnoses, documented allergies, and dietary needs.
  • Background  A snapshot of who they are — hometown, life history, mobility or cognitive considerations, and general disposition.
  • Preferences: Daily routines, personal likes and dislikes, and what helps a caregiver connect.
  • Areas to Watch: Behaviors, triggers, and care considerations that help staff support the resident proactively.

Now a caregiver covering an unfamiliar hall, or meeting a new resident for the first time, doesn't start from a blank slate. And unlike a paper profile, a summary updates on its own as the record changes. What a caregiver sees on shift reflects who the resident is today.

Keeping Care Resident-Centered

When caregivers understand the person behind the care tasks, the whole community feels it. Onboarding ramps faster, staff feel more confident, and changes in acuity surface sooner because the team knows each resident's true baseline.

Most of all, it means every resident feels known and valued no matter which caregiver is by their side.
