Today, we're introducing August Intelligence; a new capability woven throughout the August Health platform to surface the right information, to the right user, at the right time.
Designed in close collaboration with clinical and operational teams across the country, August Intelligence embeds frontier AI models deeply within our platform in a private, secure and HIPAA/SOC2 compliant manner.
August Intelligence provides proactive and on-demand context deeply embedded in existing workflows to allow care teams to provide better care for residents, faster.
What’s hidden in your data
The August Health platform provides a best-in-class, easy-to-use interface for a growing set of core senior living workflows: our Move-Ins, EHR, eMAR, Billing, Care Track and Insights products are the system of record for thousands of communities across the United States and Canada.
Most of the innovation we've made over the last five years has been to make the core workflows for senior living easier for the user. That ease of use directly translates to more data.
Each customer now sits on a vast and growing dataset of their residents' data. Every medication they take, every ADL administered, every incident and vital sign recorded is easily and securely recorded. Our growing set of integration partners supplement this core data: falls, nurse calls, sleep scores, gaits and more are now integrated in our platform.
Hiding in that data is critical information about how best to care for residents and improve operations. Catching residents who are in decline, understanding patterns in incidents, predicting move-outs — it's all right there in their data.
But as many in the industry can attest, harnessing that data is not always easy. Imagine caring for thousands of residents and trying to comprehensively review medication trends or charting notes. It's an overwhelming ask, even for the most capable teams.
"Even with modern BI tools, caregivers and nurses spend too much time on administrative tasks and sifting through data to find the important signals. Data entry, system navigation, manual documentation, and chart reviews all pull staff away from the human side of care."
Justin Schram, MD
Co-founder, August Health
August Intelligence performs the intensive knowledge work for a nurse — like prepping for an assessment, identifying rising risk residents, or doing a medication review — allowing them to efficiently perform at the top of their license and effectively manage more residents.
August Intelligence also surfaces meaningful ways for caregivers to connect to residents and automates administrative work for the front desk staff.
The right information, in the right context
Unlike the vast majority of AI interfaces today, a design goal for August Intelligence was to proactively surface the information someone needs based on their workflow, without requiring them to search.
Providing contextual information to the user, at the right time and place in their flow, is much more useful in this scenario. It keeps the user in the flow. For well-defined use cases, where we know what types of information matter, we can use contextual AI to surface relevant insights — improving both speed and user experience, as well as driving better outcomes.
Erez Cohen
Co-founder, August Health
When a caregiver opens a resident profile and they see recent changes immediately: new medications, appetite shifts, mobility concerns. The system raises the most important information to the surface.
August Intelligence isn't a separate feature you have to navigate to. The insights appear in context, exactly when you need them, rather than requiring you to prompt a chatbot for help.
Designed to support, not replace
A second design goal for August Intelligence was to supplement the user, not take action on their behalf.
August Intelligence doesn't trigger any changes to your records, nor does it change the guidance your staff follows. Instead, it offers the most helpful information to your people, so they can act on their judgment.
August Health is thinking about AI in a way that respects both the complexity and humanity of this work, while meeting the day-to-day realities of senior living by helping teams make timely, better-informed decisions.
Andy Eby
CEO, Bickford Senior Living
August Intelligence is designed to support, not replace, caregivers, so they can focus more time on direct resident care.
How to get started
August Intelligence is being piloted in collaboration with a select cohort of communities. If you're a current August Health customer interested in piloting August Intelligence, reach out to our team.
We’re learning every day from the communities piloting August Intelligence, and getting ready to bring it to more communities at scale. In the coming months, we’ll share more information about general availability. Join the waitlist to stay updated on our progress and get earlier access.
For operators not yet using August Health, August Intelligence is just one part of our integrated platform. The real foundation is getting all your data into one system (your EHR, eMAR, Care Track, billing, and more) so that AI has something meaningful to work with.
